IMG_1850The alpine air is as crisp and clear as on my last visit, although we do seem to be spending a significant amount of time in front of the fire.  I have seen more ice in champagne buckets then on mountain tops!  I do confess, apres ski was always more enjoyable than trekking about snowy terrain (even if it was only from the chateau to the driveway).  Thankfully we are surrounded by fur, which I do miss so very much… ladies these days so rarely bring out the chinchilla and mink, I have forgotten what a cozy snuggle they provide.

Au Dernier

Mon Dieu, it has been a hectic few months!  My apologies for not being in touch sooner, but I haven’t had a moment’s reprieve and you know how I treasure my beauty rest!

Madame has kept me quite busy with an endless stream of functions from openings to cocktail soirees, and gala after gala after gala.  She did give me a few nights off, whereupon she insisted on carrying a rather ostentatious (in my humble opinion) bejewelled clutch.  I understand that I may not be the perfect foil to every ensemble, but honestly…

The valise is out and the house is quite a flutter so I imagine we are getting set to depart for a wee vacance, I promise to write this time!

Thankfully,  the next morning I got a few minutes of cabana time…IMG_1716

Apres sunbathing we enjoyed a leisurely lunch of steak tartare prepared table side (is there any other way?) and enjoyed the final moments of our Beverly Hills weekend. The star gazing and people watching were extraordinary, the daytime wardrobe choices of ladies these days never cease to amaze me.

Final sips and bites and we were off to the desert, with an additional valise in tow for the new additions to her closet.

A Sense of Arrival

A Sense of Arrival

It was just so lovely to be back at The Beverly Hills Hotel after all of these years!  I am relieved to discover that the glamourous decor is just as I remembered, and that the Christmas decorations in the lobby were elegant and tasteful. You just never know when one of those horrid faux snow trees might be on display!  I must admit, I giggled with glee as we strolled up the red carpet and into the lobby, I do love a gorgeous property!

Just as I was beginning to relax, the whirlwind began…

We dashed off to Rodeo and made our way from one end to another as though on a military exercise.  I don’t know what has gotten into ladies these days, she didn’t even pause for a cup of tea or a glass of Chablis. I find this modern way of shopping entirely uncivilized!

We proceeded on to Anastasia’s for a quick touch up and then on to my previous home, Decades. It was so comforting to get a cuddle from Eri and to visit all of my old friends.  The gowns were spectacular and we left with a whimsical chapeaux in it’s original Bergdorf’s box.

A bubble bath and wardrobe change and we were off to dine at Cecconi’s.  The aroma from the truffles took me back to late suppers on Capri as the Quintarelli swirled in the glass…

Bubbles and Baubles

I am terribly excited, it’s girls’ night out!  The telephone has been buzzing all afternoon, and so far the only information I have is that the car will be here at 7:00pm sharp.

I am the only bag that has their dust cover removed, so I am anticipating that she has chosen Moi to enhance her ensemble!  As they say, I am a classic…  The safe is open, this looks promising.  I just love it when the ladies are out unaccompanied, the conversations are always so risque.

I hope they have the good sense to start with champagne, those brightly coloured martinis are not at all chic!

Almost 7:00pm, must dash…

Allow me to introduce myself…

I was born at 31 Rue Cambon in Paris in the early 1950s (a true lady never reveals her precise age) n’est-ce pas?

I was adopted by a lady of society and travelled to America with all of her couture acquisitions form Chanel and Hermes.

My complexion is pristine for my age, quilted black jersey with a classic gilt chain and a traffic stopping rouge interior.

I have travelled the globe, attended cocktail parties and grand balls, not to mention the secrets and gossip I have been privy to…

I recently journeyed to Decades in Los Angeles, where Cameron Silver helped to find me a new home.

I am just beginning my second chapter, and in the spirit of being social, I have decided to share my adventures and maybe a little bit of attitude!

Stay tuned…
